Freelance - Production Assistant

 

The Freelance - Production Assistant performs a wide variety of activities to support the Producer / Studio Manager, Stylists and the overall photography and video productions. This position is responsible for collaborating with the Producer / Studio Manager to coordinate crew and track shot list data, files and merchandise through the various phases of production. In addition, the role is responsible for tracking, organizing and prepping the products for the shoots.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Producer / Studio Manager in maintaining the project integrity for the clients
  • Serve as an additional point of contact for clients and crew
  • Attend client meetings and pre-production meetings with the Producer, or in place of Producer
  • Coordinate project crew – booking talent and models in conjunction with the Producer and distributing call sheets
  • Assist on model castings – collecting model cards, recording attendance, creating contact sheets, organizing galleries and tracking imagery on the server
  • Assist with overseeing production by working with project personnel (i.e. photographer, stylist, retoucher, assistants) to realize the client’s goals
  • Provide on-set back up for the Producer
  • Attend to client’s and crew’s needs during production
  • Data entry into internal databases to record and track production details and statuses
  • Shot list management and merchandise coordination
  • Oversee file tracking and QC throughout production – troubleshoot discrepancies and update databases
  • Coordinate catering / crew meals
  • Maintain and track accurate project expenses
  •  Support the stylists in organizing, coordinating and prepping products for photo shoots
  • Steam/prep merchandise for product and model photography
  • Assist on set with organizing products on racks from a shot list
  • Give correct style tags to Digital Tech, organize correct looks and call out any style notes to stylist
  • Responsible for tagging and retagging of garments in studio and ensuring correct style numbers are captured with corresponding images
  • Ability to style soft goods on a still life set
  •  Manage merchandise throughout all phases of production
  • Merchandise coordination and shot list management
  • Enter and update database for all products received and used in photo shoots
  • Gather, track, and maintain all product samples throughout photo shoots
  • Work closely with teams on set to acquire products needed for photo shoots
  • Interact with the post-production team in moving products or changing deliverables
  • Receive, organize, pack and return samples and other related props and supplies to and from photo shoots
  • Organize and maintain the inventory within the sample/prop area
  • Provide merchandise status reports and tracking
  • Facilitate the prompt return of all samples/props to place of origin

Qualifications

      • Experience with still life / soft good styling
      • Detail oriented, organized, able to manage multiple projects
      • Reliable with the ability to adapt to changing conditions
      • Ability to work under pressure in deadline-driven environment
      • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
      • Ability to prioritize/multi-task and follow projects through to completion
      • Strong oral and written communication skills
      • Proficient in Excel on Mac platform
      • Experience in the Photography Industry or related field
      • Knowledge of fabrics & willingness to learn
      • A superb eye for style, visual composition and attention to detail
      • Familiarity with styling and visual presentation techniques
      • Knowledge to trends and emerging brands
